Biography

Dr. William E. Alison, Jr. is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon practicing in his hometown of Huntsville, Alabama, where he serves as partner at Dunagan, Yates & Alison Plastic Surgery Center and Chief of Plastic Surgery at Huntsville Hospital. Returning home to practice has been deeply meaningful for Dr. Alison, allowing him to give back to the community that shaped him. He also heads the Children's Rehab Cleft Palate Clinic for North Alabama, reflecting his commitment to both cosmetic enhancement and life-changing reconstructive care. Dr. Alison's path to plastic surgery began at Washington & Lee University, where he graduated summa cum laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors. He earned his MD from the University of Alabama School of Medicine with Alpha Omega Alpha recognition, then embarked on extensive training that included six years at Tulane University focusing on trauma and critical care, followed by a burn research fellowship at the Shriners' Burn Institute in Galveston, Texas. His research on pediatric burn trauma was published nationally, and he completed his plastic surgery training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he also ran the institution's burn center. His philosophy centers on true partnership with patients: understanding their desires and concerns, explaining available options, and working together to achieve the best possible outcome. Married to Christy, Dr. Alison is a devoted father to four children—Evans, Luke, and twins Mary Ellis and Madelyn. When he's not in surgery, he enjoys art, sports, quail hunting, and coaching youth sports teams, staying active in the lives of his children and community.
