Biography

Shay Dean's journey into plastic surgery was deeply influenced by an early interest in the intricate details of human anatomy and the profound impact of physical transformation on a person's well-being. Growing up, he was always captivated by how precision and artistry could come together to create something harmonious, a fascination that naturally led him to the field where he could combine surgical science with aesthetic vision. He believes that true beauty lies in enhancing one's natural features, not altering them, and his approach is always rooted in listening intently to each patient's unique desires and helping them achieve results that feel authentically their own. His extensive training began at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, where his commitment to excellence was recognized with an induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He then advanced his expertise through a comprehensive Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency at Wake Forest Baptist Health, culminating in his role as Chief Resident. This was followed by an exclusive fellowship in Aesthetic Surgery at The Few Institute for Advanced Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in Chicago, where he refined his skills in the most advanced techniques. Today, as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery at UNC Charlotte School of Medicine, he helps shape the next generation of medical professionals. Dean is known for his calm demeanor and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every patient feels understood and confident in their journey towards renewal. He finds immense satisfaction in witnessing the boost in confidence and happiness his patients experience. When not in the operating room, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and children, and is fluent in Spanish, allowing him to connect with a wider community.
