For Dr. Peter McKinney, becoming a plastic surgeon was a calling rooted in both artistry and a profound desire to help people. Growing up in Memphis, he pursued his medical degree at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, a journey that led him through a rigorous general surgery residency at The Medical College of Virginia. His passion for intricate detail and reconstructive possibilities then drew him back to the University of Tennessee for his plastic surgery residency, honing his skills to a remarkable degree. He further specialized with a Hand Surgery fellowship at the prestigious Campbell Clinic, adding another layer of expertise to his comprehensive practice. Joining The Plastic Surgery Group of Memphis in 1989, Dr. McKinney quickly became a cornerstone of the practice. He believes in listening intently to each individual, understanding their unique aspirations, and crafting results that enhance their natural beauty and restore confidence. His approach is thoughtful, combining a deep understanding of anatomy with an artistic eye to achieve outcomes that are both harmonious and enduring. Beyond his practice, Dr. McKinney shares his knowledge as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee and has held leadership roles as past President of both the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the Memphis Medical Society. He finds immense satisfaction in helping patients rediscover themselves.
