As one of the few female plastic surgeons in the Kansas City area, Dr. Sheryl Young offers patients an intuitive, deeply empathetic perspective grounded in her own journey as a mother and woman. Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, she discovered her passion for reconstruction and aesthetics early, completing her biochemistry degree at Louisiana State University and earning her medical degree from Tulane School of Medicine. She subsequently refined her surgical expertise through general surgery residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center and plastic surgery residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, supplemented by specialized microsurgery training. Dr. Young believes true artistry in plastic surgery lies in enhancing natural beauty rather than altering one's core identity. She treats the whole person rather than just a single anatomical feature, establishing a warm, trusting rapport that puts patients immediately at ease. Whether helping mothers restore their confidence post-childbirth or guiding individuals through complex reconstructive procedures, Dr. Young combines meticulous technical precision with a comforting bedside manner, ensuring every patient feels genuinely heard, valued, and cared for throughout their transformation.
