Biography

Driven by a profound belief that medicine should offer pure, unhindered human connection, Dr. Robert H. Gilman has spent decades transforming lives through compassionate surgical care. After earning his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and completing his plastic surgery residency at the University of Michigan, he spent thirty-one successful years in private practice in Massachusetts while teaching in the Harvard Combined Residency Training Program. Today, as a faculty member at Michigan Medicine, Dr. Gilman brings a rare depth of artistry and technical mastery to his patients. Beyond his academic and clinical practice, his life's work includes leading international surgical mission teams to Colombia for over two decades, correcting congenital facial and body deformities for underprivileged children. This dedication to global health reflects his core philosophy: treating every individual with deep empathy, precision, and unwavering dedication. Whether performing complex reconstructive procedures or refined aesthetic enhancements, Dr. Gilman approaches each patient as a unique individual, combining decades of seasoned wisdom with a warm, personal touch that immediately puts people at ease.
