Biography

Dr. Michael D. Yates is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon and partner at Dunagan, Yates & Alison Plastic Surgery Center in Huntsville, Alabama, where he has dedicated over three decades to helping patients achieve their aesthetic goals. His approach is rooted in the belief that a plastic surgeon should possess the same eye for balance, harmony, and proportion as an artist, and he strives to be both surgeon and artist for each person who trusts him with their care. Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Yates earned a chemical engineering degree from Mississippi State University, giving him a unique analytical foundation that complements his artistic sensibility. He received his MD from the University of Alabama School of Medicine at Birmingham, graduating with Alpha Omega Alpha honors, and completed eight years of rigorous surgical training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Board-certified since 1992, Dr. Yates has been a member of The Aesthetic Society for nearly three decades and has earned recognition as a Top Plastic Surgeon in Huntsville along with numerous awards for customer satisfaction and business excellence. Beyond the operating room, Dr. Yates values time with his wife Karen, a fellow Mississippi State engineering graduate, and their daughter Kelsey. He's an avid runner who enjoys staying active and spending quality time with the family's two fox terriers, affectionately named "Moon" Rock and "Lunar" Rover. His practice offers comprehensive cosmetic and reconstructive services in an accredited facility designed with patient comfort in mind.
