Dr. Joseph Michaels is a board-certified plastic surgeon dedicated to helping patients throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area look and feel their absolute best. Driven by a lifelong fascination with anatomy and a profound desire to help others regain their self-confidence, Dr. Michaels pursued a rigorous education, earning his medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He then completed extensive training spanning general surgery residency at New York University Medical Center, a prestigious plastic surgery residency at NYU’s Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, and a dedicated fellowship in body contouring and post-weight loss surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. As the founder of Michaels Aesthetic & Reconstructive Plastic Surgery with offices in Rockville, Maryland, and Fairfax, Virginia, Dr. Michaels combines technical precision with a deeply empathetic, patient-first philosophy. He takes the time to listen closely to each individual's unique story and goals, tailoring every surgical and non-surgical plan to honor their natural proportions. Widely respected in his field, he shares his expertise as an academic educator and holds leadership roles within prominent regional hospitals, ensuring his patients receive world-class care rooted in safety, artistry, and compassion.
