Biography

Dr. de la Torre is Professor of Surgery and Rehabilitative Medicine and is the Director of the Division of Plastic Surgery. He also has serves as an Assistant Chief Medical Officer at UAB, Program Director of the Plastic Surgery Residency and Section Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Birmingham V.A. Medical Center. He is the founding Director of the Center for Advanced Surgical Aesthetics at UAB. Dr. de la Torre is from Texas where he completed his undergraduate education at the University of Texas in Austin. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston. He completed general surgery training at St. Joseph Medical Center in Houston and plastic surgery residency at Nassau University Medical Center with the Long Island Plastic Surgery Group. He then completed a fellowship specializing in aesthetic plastic surgery and breast surgery at UAB.
