Biography

Growing up in Pittsburgh, Dr. Gerald Pitman developed an early understanding of medicine from his father, a general surgeon. This formative experience sparked his own journey into a field where he saw the beautiful intersection of artistic vision and scientific precision. After earning his medical degree from Northwestern University, he honed his surgical skills through a rigorous residency at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, followed by specialized plastic surgery training at New York University Medical Center. His expertise quickly led him to leadership roles, including serving as Chief of Plastic Surgery at both Lenox Hill Hospital and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, and he continues to share his knowledge as a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at NYU Medical Center. Beyond his impressive academic contributions, which include authoring a comprehensive textbook for his peers and holding patents for innovative surgical devices, Dr. Pitman has also demonstrated a deep commitment to the broader medical community, notably as a former President of the New York County Medical Society. His humanitarian spirit extends globally, regularly volunteering his time on medical missions to countries like the Philippines, Peru, and Ecuador, providing transformative care to children with birth deformities. This blend of exacting skill, inventive spirit, and profound compassion defines his approach. When not helping patients achieve natural and refined results, he enjoys the calm focus of golfing, the creative outlet of photography, and cherished moments with his wife and three children.
