Born and raised right here in Kansas, you might say Dr. Gerald Nelson's roots run deep in the Sunflower State. His journey in medicine began with an undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas, followed by his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. It was also at the University of Kansas Medical Center where he honed his skills, completing both his General Surgery and Plastic Surgery residencies, establishing a strong foundation in complex surgical care. For over three decades, since founding the Plastic Surgery Center in 1989, Dr. Nelson has been a cornerstone of plastic surgery in Wichita. He holds the esteemed position of Chief of the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Kansas School of Medicine, Wichita, where he also serves as a Clinical Professor, actively shaping the next generation of surgeons. His approach centers on understanding each person's unique aspirations, designing individualized treatment plans that achieve natural, refined results. He believes in empowering patients with comprehensive information, ensuring they feel confident and informed every step of the way. Beyond his professional life, Dr. Nelson cherishes time with his wife, Kathy, their three children, and numerous grandchildren. He finds joy in traveling, skiing, and golfing, embracing an active lifestyle that mirrors his energetic pursuit of excellence in his practice. This blend of deep professional expertise, a legacy of teaching, and a genuine personal connection helps patients feel at ease, knowing they are in truly experienced and caring hands.
