Dr. Cong Ivy Ran is a board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon and founder of FlowMD Aesthetic Center & Ran Plastic Surgery in Los Angeles. She is one of a select group of surgeons in the region offering facial aesthetic procedures specifically tailored for Asian patients, understanding that beauty is diverse and Western standards don't suit everyone. Dr. Ran's journey to medicine began with a passion for science at The Ohio State University, where she graduated magna cum laude in Molecular Genetics. She pursued a combined MD/PhD at Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine, earning expertise in genetics alongside her medical training. Her residency at Northwestern University in Chicago allowed her to train under renowned mentors, followed by a fellowship at UCSF's Maas Clinic, where she refined her surgical artistry. Fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, Dr. Ran connects deeply with her diverse patient population and provides culturally sensitive care. She describes her work as existing at "the intersection of science and art," bringing both analytical precision and creative vision to each procedure. When not in the operating room, Dr. Ran enjoys hiking, reading, watching movies, and exploring great food.
