Fascinated by the elegance of surgical craftsmanship since childhood, Dr. Chia Chi Kao knew by age six that he wanted to dedicate his life to medicine. Today, he is widely recognized as an innovative force in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, best known as the pioneer of the signature Ponytail Lift® and Ponytail Facelift®. After earning his medical degree from the University of Washington, Dr. Kao completed his rigorous general surgery training there—becoming board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in 1997—before finishing his plastic surgery residency at the University of Southern California. Practicing in Santa Monica, California, Dr. Kao combines meticulous anatomical precision with an artistic, tissue-sparing philosophy. Rather than altering a patient's unique identity, his approach centers on graceful, natural rejuvenation and minimal scarring.
