Biography

Growing up with experiences that spanned different cultures, Dr. Carlos Kals developed an early understanding of individuality and transformation. This foundation propelled him towards a career where he could enhance lives, leading him to achieve high honors at the University of Miami for psychobiology and graduating with Distinction in Research from its School of Medicine. His pursuit of surgical excellence continued through two demanding residencies, first in General Surgery and then in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, both at the renowned University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he served as Chief Resident in both programs. Further refining his expertise, he completed a specialized Craniofacial Surgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, gaining a profound ability to address complex facial and aesthetic concerns. Now a board-certified plastic surgeon, he approaches each patient interaction with a philosophy centered on meticulous technique and a focus on natural, harmonious results that celebrate and enhance unique features. He believes in creating outcomes that are both beautiful and genuinely reflective of the individual, always prioritizing patient safety. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Kals remains actively involved in academia as a Voluntary Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. His commitment extends globally through medical mission trips to Central America, where he provides crucial surgical care for children with craniofacial deformities. Fluent in English and Spanish, he enjoys an active life playing tennis, traveling, and cherishing moments with his wife and two daughters, bringing a well-rounded perspective to his compassionate care.
