Biography

The path to becoming a plastic surgeon became deeply personal for Dr. Alexander McCulloch following his own experience with skin cancer, leading him to understand firsthand the profound impact surgeons have on patients' lives. Growing up right here in Richmond, he built a strong foundation at Collegiate School before heading to Washington and Lee University. His medical journey continued at Eastern Virginia Medical School, culminating in extensive general surgery and plastic surgery residencies at the VCU Health System, where he honed his precise skills. Now, as a board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. McCulloch ensures that every patient feels heard and at ease, with a focus on understanding their individual goals and concerns. He believes in a personalized approach, taking the time to explain procedures thoroughly and guide patients through every step of their aesthetic or reconstructive journey. Dr. McCulloch approaches each case as a unique opportunity to create natural, refined results that truly enhance confidence and improve quality of life. Away from his practice, he finds joy in spending time with his wife and three children, often heading outdoors for skiing, hiking, fishing, and golf. He also gives back to the community through his volunteer work with the Virginia Special Olympics, reflecting his broader commitment to wellbeing.
